There are many cultural facilities such as art galleries and literature museums around Lake Shiozawa, as well as a sports park. Karuizawa Taliesin, the park in which Lake Shiozawa resides, also offers walking trails and a well-kept English Rose Garden.

This vast area encompasses the south side of the Shinano Railway and Route 18. The natural scenery remains untouched by urban development, resulting in a serine, still and peaceful atmosphere with vast viewing spots of Mt. Asama. It’s recommended to walk along Onna-kaido Street, located behind the Nakasendo Way.
